When set to Deactivate, a booster will simply stop when its effect ends. A single Stunt is only worth 100 Mod Points, but you can knock them out in seconds, so it works out in the long run. There's usually at least one near any town or city, and often as many as five. To earn Mod Points for the Booster, perform the various Stunts scattered around Solis. It's particularly good during the various harbor region strikes where you have to fling rigged vehicles into the ocean. This can be extremely random and is mostly good for causing enormous amounts of collateral damage, but can also be employed usefully. If the object in question can be moved, the booster will usually move it. The more Boosters you stick to a single object, the harder the force exerted and the crazier things get. Tagging an object with a Booster sticks it with a short-lived, surprisingly powerful rocket, which ignites when you manually trigger it. Once the retraction kicks in, the tether will move slowly, normally, or quickly. At low force, the objects barely move at extreme force, they rush towards one another. This determines the force with which the tether retracts. The tether can be set to retract all the way, until the two joined objects touch, or to stop halfway through, leaving some clearance between them. When the tether reaches its minimum length, it can be set to pulse, sending out a wave of force to deactivate entirely, leaving the two objects joined or snap. There are also a handful of possible random encounters for Javi, but with only 4 Mods, this is the easiest category to max out. Javi's archeological side quests are worth Mod Points towards the Retractor, including uncovering the Ancient Statues and looking up the Secret History of Solis. You can use it to yank enemies off their feet, staple llamas to passing cars, pull down the scenery by joining towers to the ground, throw breaker switches, pull covers off vulnerable circuitry, and a hundred other things. The Retractor lets you join two targets together with a tether, which proceeds to pull them together. Our old buddy from the last game is back. When the Lifter reaches its maximum height, you can determine whether the balloon pops, sending its cargo straight back down, or simply hovers in place. You can set the maximum height of the Lifter's effects. You can also use Guided mode to direct a Lifted object with your crosshairs, which is handy for certain challenges like " The Lost Tomb of Otorongo." Want your own personal balloon buddy? Use Follow mode, and any objects currently Lifted will move along behind you. You can use this to make them indestructible, immune to your damage, or immune to any damage other than your own. In conjunction with the Locomotion mods, it lets you remote-pilot explosives to their destination.īy default, the balloons on the Lifter can be destroyed by whatever incidental damage comes their way. You can apply this mod to fill them with hydrogen instead, which means when the balloons pop, they'll also detonate. The degree of lift you specify determines how effective it'll be a small balloon can only pick up the lightest objects, such as people, while a big one can pull even massive pieces of the scenery into the air.Ĭonveniently, tagging an enemy with the Lifter tends to skyhook them, sending them up, away, and out of the fight until the balloon breaks.ĭoing missions for Sargento, such as the various "Training" side quests, earns Mod Points towards the Lifter.īy default, the balloons from the Lifter are filled with harmless helium.
